I got a little kick in the butt this morning when I discovered that Casey from Loft and Cottage had linked to my blog. How cool is that? I figured I should post some new material since I've been in a blogging funk for awhile. So thanks, Casey, for the motivation. I needed it!
I'm trying to leave my perfectionism behind and feel proud of my "in the process" projects. Let's be honest, nothing is every really finished at my house anyway. Better to show something, rather than nothing, because my look is collected and it takes time for me to gather everything.
I've been working on making my entry into it's only little "room," not just a pass through. The limitations of small spaces inspire me. I think it's because they seem more manageable. I started with a fresh coat of Olympic's spiced vinegar in eggshell on the walls.

This is my latest inherited piece from my mom. It was in my parent's house growing up and I'm really happy to have it in mine now. It's the perfect spot to hang my purse and coat and display a bouquet of alstroemeria. I've resolved to buy fresh flowers weekly because they bring me so much joy. Just a little spot of beauty for 4 bucks and they last for a long time. They also happen to be my wedding flower.
The hall tree was in pretty good shape, but I did change one thing. These little metal tins were a dingy silverish color. I gave them a quick spray of brass paint to brighten them up. Much better.
I also grabbed a couple cane's from my dad's collection. I just love these two. They are so unique.
I wanted a jolt of color in this neutral space, so I painted the doors in Olympic's painted turtle in semi-gloss.
This was my Christmas present from my husband this year. Seven years without an entry rug. I think it was time. I love the look of vintage oriental rugs, but I've had a hard time finding them, especially in good condition. This is a new one from Overstock.com.
I got this sweet little bench with the perfect green fabric from Noblesville Antiques. I'd like to put a thin console table next to it.
This is the view as soon as you enter the door. I found the empty frame at Goodwill. I think it would look cool with an old black and white map in it. I'm keeping my eye out.
Here's a close up of our family photos. I plan to fill this wall and continue the gallery up the stairwell. I love to use antique frames, but it takes time find them. Most of these are from Hobby Lobby and spray painted. The little silhouette is of our dog, Donovan.
Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate all my blog readers!
What a beautiful hall tree from your mom. Love your entry way! :)
